Shana-Tara O'Toole, Founder + President

Shana founded the Due Process Institute because, after years of first-hand defense work and criminal legal reform advocacy, she became convinced that the Constitution needed and deserved its own lobbying firm--particularly in the area of procedural due process rights.

The erosion of these rights has caused unsound prosecutorial and carceral practices as well as profound structural unbalances within our criminal legal system that she is determined to fix.

With 20 years of project management, lobbying, legal defense, and teaching experience, Shana's goal is to achieve meaningful solutions to as many of these problems, in the shortest amount of time possible, for the betterment of as many people as possible, as well as to prevent any of it from getting worse on her watch.

She is immensely grateful to the many criminal reform advocates, public defenders, private defense lawyers, Congressional staff, public officials, businesses, and funders of every political persuasion who work together with Due Process Institute on its mission to preserve and restore fairness and due process in our criminal legal system.  Because #BipartisanWorks
